Just wanted to say the 176 arrived safely today and I was able to fire her up this evening for a 1st run through. Just so impressed with all aspects of the compressor, I understand that it’s obviously brand new but still, a very impressive and clean build. I’m so used to vari-mu slow compressors that it took a few attempts to get it adjusted how I’d like, but once I’d worked it out I found it just wonderful.

I’m extremely impressed with the amount of clean tube gain it adds even without compression, a very nice line amp as well. Not a jot of noise compared to what I’m used to. My favourite settings at the moment is on fastest attack (amazing how it brightens slightly on fastest attack), 5 on release and 4:1 on all things female vocals, guitars and bass. I really am so pleased with it.

Peter’s review of his 176 compressor :

I've used Reamp Electronics many times for repairs and modifications of existing outboard gear both new and old. I also purchased a customised LA2A which looks awesome and sounds absolutely gorgeous. The LA2A often gets used on a chain when recording vocalists but I also love it on bass guitar. It makes every source sound richer and bigger in a pleasing way! Giacomo is highly competant at what he does and I always have complete trust in his builds and services.

I have had a Reamp Electronics LA-2A for a few months and couldn't be happier with it.
One of the first things I did was head down to a friend's studio for a shootout with a modern Universal Audio LA-2A. The Reamp was very slightly slower and a whole lot richer, warmer and more natural sounding.
It has a gorgeous bottom end response, I was amazed. In short, a way better compressor than the modern Universal Audio and obviously a lot more affordable. Plugins don't come close to either, IMO.
Whatever I put through the Reamp comes out sounding like it belongs on a record. I absolutely love the unit and for the LA-2A sound I can't imagine finding anything better for the price. I went for the Urei opto and UTC transformer.

Just wanted to give a brief feedback and say thanks for the build of the La2a
I didn‘t have too much time to run it through its paces but the quality looks amazing. Today I recorded a bass track with it and it‘s the best sounding bass I ever tracked.

I am very happy with your La-2a. It’s in a rack full of nice gear including a custom MNats 1176, a pair of Ampexes and a Mercury V76. We literally use it every day in the studio.

These boxes are great. I love the 176 on bass and monosynths, and I'd like to put it to more use on guitar in the future as well. The 2A is lovely on acoustic in particular. They're really beautiful boxes. The 176 is an absolutely stunning piece of hardware in particular.

I’m chaining your 176 with a Chandler TG2, and honestly it sounds GREAT. The sound I’m getting off your 176 is absolutely stellar..! Honestly, your compressor is knocking me off my feet. Your aftersale support has been brilliant btw.

We're so happy with the sound of the LA-2A, what a incredibly well built unit! We use it on every mix, and it stills flaws me. Incredible sonics.

The build quality and looks are excellent as always.
I have fully tested your 175B stereo pair on several sources, on bass they are amazing (since I have them I didn’t use your 1176), on vocals above 2/3 dB gain reduction there is a nice coloration, which works fantastic for vintage flavored productions. On the drum buss, it’s instant 60s vibes, saturated and it was love at first sight. On guitars, same as bass.
I think they are the best compressors I have in the studio, even better than the LA-2A and 1176s you built for me. I am extremely satisfied, your work was impeccable once again.
